Abstract

At present, there is increasingly technology and innovation to facilitate traveling in the city. In this paper, it reports the study of public automatic locker services in the city which is provided by a private company. It is the self-service at the pre-set charging price. This study is aimed to learn about characteristics of service and clients. Four case studies at the department store and subway stations were chosen. The data were collected by observing and recording its physical service characteristics, characteristics of clients, size of chosen locker, deposit time, pick-up time and expenses. The results showed that the company provides four different locker sizes. i.e., small, medium, large and super large. Clients usually come in group. Male and female clients are almost equal. There are more of international clients than Thais. Traveling bags are deposited most frequently. The duration is between 2 – 5 hours. The average expense is 100 baht. It was also observed that clients come back to pick up with more stuffs. They may deposit in order to buy more. The rate of use is quite high above 80% at some locations. This means that the public automatic locker is useful and able to accommodate the clients’ need very well while traveling in the city, especially at best locations such as department store and subway stations.
