A Study on the Satisfaction of Online Purchasing of Construction Material (Case Study of Bangkok Metropolitan Region)

Abstract

Presently. with the dynamic advancement of technology and confrontation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, people are inevitably forced to adapt themselves to change lifestyles so called the “new normal”. Online shopping for construction materials becomes popular and has tendency to increase continuously. The objective of this research was to study consumers’ satisfaction and behaviors in purchasing construction materials via online communication. The data used for quantitative research were collected from the questionnaires proposed to related sample group of 400 people in Bangkok Metropolis and surrounding provinces. The confidence was fixed at 95% level. The SPSS statistics was used for data analysis. From the study, the results revealed that most of the respondents were female with age range between 30-40 years, married status, bachelor degree background. Their occupation was employee in the construction industry, having a monthly income between 15,000-30,000 Baht. They searched for information from Google to find the material stores. Their supervisors were the main participants in the purchasing decision. The maximum amount of each purchase in a year-round Between 30,000-50,000 Baht. The purchasing service was more than 10 times a year. Most payments are money transferred into bank accounts. There was price comparison before the purchasing. The level of satisfaction in online purchasing construction materials in Bangkok Metropolitan and peripheral provinces was found that the respondents had a high level of satisfaction, averagely at 3.607 level. The hypothesis test was found that the personal factors of different sex, age, education level, occupation, and behaviors in purchasing could insignificantly affect to the satisfaction of purchasing construction materials via online communication. Different income decision could differently affect to the satisfaction of online purchasing construction materials at 0.05 statistically significant level.
