Engineering training is aimed to provide students with opportunity to learn the real working condition in order to prepare them for the future career. All civil engineering curriculum in Thai universities have an engineering training course as required by the Thai Council of Engineers. This article studies the behavior of training students on many angles including the chosen organizations, the real training sites, characteristics of training organizations, characteristics of training sites and compensation. The data source is from the 2561 B.E. engineering training database, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University. The analysis results show that most students were trained in civil engineering-related organizations. They chose their own training organizations. Students did not know the training site in advance. They usually went to be trained at the different site from the chosen organization. Most students received compensation. The transportation was quite convenient, possibly because they chose their own training organizations or they relocated to stay near the training sites. The results implied that students optimizes the choice of training sites by considering combination of factors such as location and compensation. Having known the needs and behaviors of students, the study results are very useful for improving the preparation of training organizations to increase the efficiency of engineering training.
