Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop an action plan for Civil engineering program and Environmental engineering program to graduate within 4 years according to the curriculum criteria and curriculum quality assurance criteria according to the ASEAN University educational quality assurance standard (AUN-QA). This research used the design thinking as a guideline for conducting research and used the in-depth interviews through semi-structured interviews as the qualitative research method to obtain information from students who graduated more than 4 years of study or dropped out during their studies. The two groups of interviewed samples: 1) 33 students who spent time more than 4 years and 2) 14 staffs of academic and supporting staffs such as lecturers, technicians, engineers and academic support staffs, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The results using inductive method showed that the main reason of students spend more time studying than the program prescribed or drop out during their studies were 1) the curriculum structure 2) the management of curriculum committees 3) lecturers and 4) the students. From the study results, it can be concluded that the action plans were developed to solve the curriculum framework and management, the new students’ orientation and the adjustment of criteria and grading method procedures.
