Flood Damage Assessment in Agricultural Areas by Using Tangible and Intangible Factors

Abstract

Agricultural areas in Sena District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province have been affected by floods that occurred in the past. The damage will vary according to the area and household characteristics. Valuation of damage from flooding if considering only the tangible damage only May cause the damage value to be low or not true to the condition. Combining intangible damage factors will make the analysis results more accurate. This study consists of Creating hydraulic models to simulate flooding areas in Different return period. After that, the results were analyzed in the Geographic Information System using overlay techniques with damage factors.  that are separated into tangible and intangible values. .including the economic disruption soil and water revival, community networks. In order to see more accurate damage values To be used as economic value for suggestion on damage prevention and flood management (Non-Structural measures and Structural measures. The results of the study showed that return periods of 10 years, 25 years, 50 years and 100 years, Affecting agricultural areas 91.09 sq. Km. 108.97 sq. Km. 119.72 sq. Km. And 127.50 sq. Km respectively. Worth the damage that the damage value from intangible factors will be used. Will result in increased damage of 16.89 % compared to using only tangible factors.
