Abstract

Bangsaen is the most famous tourist destination of Chonburi province for a long time. About three million tourists visited tourism attraction in Bangsaen area. However, traveling between tourist attractions in the area is not comfort in case of tourists do not have their own cars. This study was aimed to determine the feasibility of car sharing system that will be the alternative mode for traveling between tourist attractions and will also be able to change the travel behavior of tourists who have driven their own cars to change the mode of transportation by public transport or even high-speed trains that will be operated in the near future. The study area was defined to cover the Saen Suk Municipality and nearby areas. Data were collected by interviewing using Stated Preference (SP) technique from 400 sets of tourists on Saturday and Sunday. The results of this study was found that 83.25% of tourists did not have any information about car sharing services, only 4.25% travel using public transit, 65.75% willing to use car sharing services if available, and believe that car sharing services might support to increase number of tourists in this area.
