Abstract

This paper presents the study of influence of soil-cement column arrangement on lateral resistance in soft clay by using large model field direct shear test. The test uses reduced scale soil-cement columns which are constructed in natural soft clay in test field located in Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. By using model test of soil-cement column of diameter 70 millimeters, which using the 10 to 1 scale. Using the wet deep mixing method with mixing tool by electric drill, four soil-cement arrangements for studies the influence of soil-cement arrangement and spacing between soil-cement that effect of resist lateral load, which using the large direct shear test by shear box, there is designed and developed for this article, that can open side for studies of the result of soil and soil-cement failures. Direct shear test in the field without moving the soil. The large direct shear tests reinforced with soil-cement column in the field show that the bonding between soil-cement column has strong influence on lateral resistance of SCCW arrangement.
