Abstract

Speeding is a major cause of road traffic accidents in the nation. Severe accidents often occur at the horizontal curve with a small radius. Regulatory agencies recognized the importance of this problem and proposed various safety measures to change driving behavior. To inform driving speeds to drivers is one of the strategies used to reduce the speed of driving. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of your speed signs on driving speed and accident rate on the Highway No.107 Mae Thalai – Hua Tho (Chiang Mai – Chiang Dao), the horizontal curves at station 66+525. This study will analyze and compare driving speeds before and after your speed signs are installed on the curve. The statistical results showed that can significantly reduce the speed of vehicles. It was found that the average vehicle speed shows a decreasing trend of 12% and the proportion of vehicles exceeding the speed limit of 50 km/h shows a decreasing trend of 20%. This indicates that the installation of speed signs helps to increase the efficiency of managing vehicle speed and reduce the likelihood of road accidents in horizontal curve areas. And in the future, additional measures should be implemented to maintain effectiveness, such as strict law enforcement.
