Perspectives on the Success Factors in Construction Project Management: Case Study of Public Sector Office and Residential Buildings

Abstract

In Thailand, there are currently many office and residential building construction projects in both the public and private sectors. The state enterprises’ investments in construction projects are substantial, which includes both projects that have been implemented according to plan, faster than expected and later than expected. The expenditure of the budget each year in accordance with the schedule of the loan amount borrowed is an important component of project management success. The purpose of this research was to look into the factors that affected the success of construction project management. In this study, data were collected through questionnaires from a sample group of four parties, namely The project owner, designer, consulting and contractor. This research divides success factors in construction project management into six categories: 1) Man factors 2) Money factors 3) Machine factors 4) Material factors 5) Method factors 6) Others factors. The scope of research focuses on the construction of office buildings and residential buildings for the state enterprises. There are eight projects. The findings can be used as a guideline for the management of construction projects and able to identify the factors influencing the management of other construction projects that will occur in the future.budget expenditure according to the loan schedule, increase the efficiency and quality of construction project management, and know the factors influencing the management of other construction projects that will occur in the future.
