Abstract

Wind force is one of the lateral forces that plays an important role in structural design and analysis. There are many ways to calculate the wind loads. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was applied to this research in order to analyze the wind force action on high buildings and the building response at the different rate of wind speed using ANSYS program. There are two method applied to turbulence equations used to simulate the test, namely, (1) SST-k- model (Shear stress transport) , (Reynold averaged navier stokes , RANS) and (2) Large-eddy simulation (LES), in order to compare the result of the force action on the building, and response buildings both along wind and across wind. Based on the study, it was found that the Large-eddy simulation (LES) yields a little better outcome comparing to SST-k-- model. Anyhow, SST-k- model took much shorter time than other method.
