Seismic Analysis for The Elephant Tower per DPT1301/1302-61
Abstract
Design standard DPT1301/1302-61 define the seismic force and building categories for analysis. In term of architecture, shape and design of building are complex. That effect to the building as asymmetric and irregularity such as torsional irregularity, horizontal irregularity and vertical irregularity. In this research is to present the analytical result of the Elephant Tower that the building was ranked number four of the 20 World’s Iconic Skyscraper by CNNgo in 2013. Moreover, the elephant tower is horizontal and vertical irregularity. Assumptions of analysis are the tower was located in Chiang Mai, Thailand and seismic design category is D. To study the structural behavior, seismic response of building and to compare the seismic design methods. In the research, Equivalent static analysis, Modal response spectrum analysis and Linear time history analysis were used for analysis.
