A Study of the Concrete Structural Problem in Highrise Building Projects in Pattaya City, Bang Lamung, Chonburi
Abstract
One of the most important aspects in a construction project is the structural which could relate to design and construction process. The structural failure in construction could lead to a huge loss. The purpose of this study is to identify the structural problems in high-rise building construction projects in Pattaya, Chonburi. Data were collected from five high-rise buildings construction projects. Research methodology comprised of two parts which were questionnaire surveys and interview with construction project engineers. In this study, the structural problems in the construction project divided into 6 categories which were (1) foundations and piles work (2) column work (3) beam work (4) slab work (5) wall work (6) stair work. The study presented that the foundations and piles work was the highest frequency and most importance. The interview with construction project engineers suggested several factors related to the structural problems which were (1) unskilled construction workers (2) working condition and (3) communication problem with foreigner workers.
