The project is to study the construction of retaining walls by using GFRP reinforced interlocking bricks. The major objective of this
project is to examine the horizontal movement character of retaining walls which made from interlocking bricks in the figure of half-lump
construction with dry joint, and there were GFRP reinforced by a torque wrench at 10, 20, and 30 pounds. The size of this retaining walls is
width 2 meters, height 1.6 meters, and thickness 0.1 meters, which was reinforced by GFRP with the diameter 12 mm, and length 1.55 m with
consisted of 16 lines. The retaining wall was simulated by that lateral soil pressure was passed through the sand subsidence within mol iron,
and the horizontal movement of the wall was measured. The findings of the movement of the interlocking brick retaining walls showed that
the highest horizontal movement was at 3.25, 4.43, and 4.87millimeters respectively. GFRP is acceptable and can be used as a new alternative
material for the construction of retaining walls since the good capacity to gain tensile strength, and the material does not become rusty in
underground humidity.
