Abstract

This study is to investigate the relationship between N-value of standard penetration test with friction angle of Bangkok Sand with different relative density. A newly developed calibration chamber has been set up to investigate the relationship between N-value and relative density. The relationship between friction angle and relative density of sand was studied by drained triaxial test. From test results, N-value increased with increasing relative density as well as friction angle of sand. The newly empirical equation was proposed to predict friction angle with different N-values and relative density. It will be very useful for designing the foundation on Bangkok Sand.
