Abstract

In economic recession. Running a highly competitive business. We must be ready in many areas. The business operation needs more adaptation. Including house project, Condominium and Dormitories that the marketing principle have changed. Even though the economy is in recession, but there still have project that rely on differentiation from traditional sales. By adding a beautiful interior as an optional accessory for customer. Which has received, a good feedback from customers. That causing why interior work has to play and important role in construction work. However, a crucial problem often occurring with interior design contractors is the payment of work instalments being. Therefore, the objective of this research is to study the factors influencing the delay in the payment of work instalments. A questionnaire survey was used to collect data from groups of people: consultants and the contractors, both in the public and private sectors. This was done by using 30 purposive samples. An analysis of data utilized the comparison of mean values, and ranking the importance of these values, in order to find out the important factors that both the contractors and the consultants agree on being the causes of the delays. Also, A statistical test using Independent Sample t-test was used to find out what both the contractors and the consultants agree on being the critical factors that causes the payment of work instalments to be delayed. By the results, there are 4 factors that cause the delays in the payment of work instalments: non-cooperation during work, non-cooperation in complying the agreed communication procedures, planning that is inconsistent with the labor force and resources, and planning that is inconsistent with the work period. Furthermore, 10 critical sub-factors were found to influencing the delays in payment of work instalments, such as ambiguity in management decisions, lack of planning in the delivery of materials, and late payment by the project owner.
