Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of the Road Safety Improvement project and to study drivers' behavior on The Black Spot of Route No.2002, Highway No.21–Na Sam Saeng Village Loei Province, where accidents occur frequently, causing many people's lives and property losses. The study method was to evaluate the Road Safety Improvement, including Roller Barrier, Porous Asphaltic, Rubber Fender Barrier. The data used in the analysis were Pavement friction data, driving speed data, historical accident data, driver behavior study using questionnaires. The results of the study were as follows: The mean of the study area’s pavement friction higher than pre-operation. The mean of the study area’s driving speed post-operation was 6.9% lower than pre-operation. Driving behavior, the study found that most of the people used cars (54.50%), followed by motorcycles (38.50%), the most frequent time to use the road was in the morning (45.00%), Using the route 4-6 times/week, (50.50%), Driving speed below 80 km/h (55.00%). people’s attitude towards the Road Safety Improvement project was at a high level, including Roller Barrier/Rubber Fender Barrier, pavement friction, Traffic signs. Factors affecting road accidents in descending order were: Road user factor, Environment factor, Road factor, and Vehicle factor.
