Effects of gradation to the strength of cement-polymer crushed rock road base
Abstract
This research has an objective to study the effects of gradation to the strength of cement-polymer crushed rock road
base. (cement-Polymer mixture) for pavement by adjusting the size of crushed rocks, divided into 3 types: normal aggregate,
20% fine content and 30% fine content. From the same aggregate material. The quality was improved with Portland Cement
Type I and Polymer (Polymer) styrene-acrylic (SA) as an additive in the ratio of 90:10 cement-polymer mixtures at 7 and 28
days of aging. Then, this study conduction three test Unconfined Compression test, Indirect Tensile Strength and California
Bearing Ratio Curing period of sample was 7 days. The testing result show effect of the gradation resulted in compressive
strength and indirect tensile strength at 7 and 28 days of aging to decrease and tend to be relatively stable. And as the ratio
of fine content increases the influence of the gradation will influence the C.B.R value of sock and unsoaked Down and tend
to be relatively stable.
