Abstract

ABSTRACT

               Statistics of construction accidents and injuries in Thailand have shown a high rate of occurrences in comparison to many other countries. There are many researchers trying to find methods and preventive measures to reduce accidents. Thai government also realized that this could be a significant problem. Therefore, the Thai government released a safety policy in 2000 and the Occupational Safety, the 2011 Health and Environment Act. Also, Ministerial Regulations officially form many versions of Standards for Administration and Management of Safety. These cause the private contractors that manage public and private jobs to create safety plans and safety management system manuals in construction management. Nevertheless, various accidents still exist. The objective of this research is to propose a standardized construction safety standard for general public and private management for construction projects. The study was conducted by collecting data from the Safety Act and relevant Ministerial Regulations. The study found that construction safety standards for general management for the public and private sectors has to write documents and report the trainings of safety officers, as well as warning signs, safety protection devices, preventive measures, regulations and safety manuals. These acts are able to reduce injury statistics.
