Abstract

This article presents guidelines for enhancing safety at intersections on local roads. Through a literature review, the researchers gathered data and developed a manual titled "Guidelines for Improving Safety at Intersections on Local Roads in Urban Areas." The manual encompasses various principles and methods for enhancing safety at operational intersections, including a road safety checklist for local road intersections. The checklist was developed based on the Road Safety Audit system used by relevant road authorities. The content validity of the road safety checklist for local road intersections was assessed using the Index of Item Objective Congruence (IOC) by three experts from the Department of Rural Roads to ensure its appropriateness and relevance to the context of local road intersections. This manual serves as a guideline for relevant agencies or stakeholders to assess safety issues at local road intersections and provides preliminary recommendations for improving safety for road users at operational intersections. It is intended to facilitate effective implementation in subsequent steps.
